Stop Tesco now
SOME SIX years ago my wife and I lived in a village close to Beverley, the
county town of the East Riding of Yorkshire.
In spite of two massive public objections by the local residents, Tesco
opened in the town.
The result of their presence was, as forecast, the demise of local butchers,
grocers, greengrocers, bakers and others.
Exactly the same demise of shops occurred in Stow on the Wold following the
arrival of a Tesco store close to their town centre.
We already have one Tesco store, we certainly do not want another.
Stop Tesco opening now and protect our present shops, shopkeepers and staff
in Penarth.
